New boss at Fuller's brewery

05 April, 2013

Fuller’s has appointed group managing director Simon Emeny as its chief executive, with effect from July 1.

Emeny joined the London Pride brewer in 1996 and took up his current role three years ago after four years heading the Fuller’s Inns division. He began his career as a graduate trainee with Bass in 1987.

Fuller’s said the move was “the next stage in the evolution of the company’s succession plan”, away from members of the families that give the company its long-form name Fuller Smith & Turner.

Chairman Michael Turner, who was chief executive from 2002 to 2007, and has since been executive chairman, will continue as chairman in a non-executive capacity.

Looking back to look forward

Wine is a liquid time capsule. Drinking older vintages not only recalls the weather conditions and winemaking styles of the past, it encourages us to reflect upon our own histories. Such reminiscence often inclines towards romanticised nostalgia. Especially after the second bottle. But looking back is a great way of learning about the future.
