New importer to specialise in Argentinian wine

19 October, 2012

A new importer specialising in boutique wines from family-run vineyards in Argentina is targeting independent retailers in the UK.

Cupari Wines represents five independent estates with annual productions of between 70,000 and 100,000 litres.

The average retail price across the range of 19 wines is £16.

The portfolio’s focus is on Malbec, but other varieties include Torrontes, Bonarda, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon, as well as blends.

Founder Nick Smith said: “We are not interested in supplying big-volume brands to supermarkets - our focus is on exclusive parcels to independent mer- chants and restaurants who want to sell individual wines with provenance and a story to tell.”
