Off-Piste appointed agent for Spanish winery

17 October, 2012

Off-Piste wines has been appointed as the new UK off-trade agent for Spanish wine producer Bodegas Muriel, marking its first foray into Spain.

The winery, which is based in the heart of Rioja Alavesa, already has a number of listings with UK retailers and hopes it will increase its market share by joining forces with Off Piste.

Clem Yates MW, sourcing and supply director at Off Piste, said: “This is our first venture into Spain and we are very excited to be representing Bodegas Muriel in the UK Off-trade. Having worked with them previously I think they are one of the best producers currently in Rioja.”

Bodegas Muriel was formerly distributed by D&D Wines International in the UK, before the company went into administration in April.

Javier Murua, owner of Bodegas Muriel, said: “We are looking forward to working closely with the team at Off-Piste Wines and growing our share of the UK market together.”
