Dyer handed McGuigan supplier job on permanent basis

11 September, 2012

Ex Sainsbury’s wine buyer Julian Dyer has been appointed general manager for Europe at Australian Vintage on a permanent basis.

Dyer had taken the role on an interim basis after the departure of Paul Schaafsma to head the UK and Ireland business of Accolade Wines earlier this month.

Dyer joined the McGuigan wine supplier from Sainsbury’s in March.

Australian Vintage chief executive Neil McGuigan said: “He has a wealth of experience and knowledge, and his understanding of wine and the wine business will be a great asset.

“His skill set, insight and industry standing will play a vital role in continuing to grow our business to meet the ever-changing demands of consumers.”

Dyer will be responsible for the strategic development of the company and growth of its branded wine portfolio.

Dyer said: “This is an exciting growth phase for Australian Vintage and I look forward to working closely with the well-established UK team to deliver and exceed our business and brand objectives.”
