Jacob's Creek to sponsor The Jonathan Ross Show

Jacob’s Creek has signed a deal to sponsor The Jonathan Ross Show and the first ads will appear on Saturday when the comedian interviews Usain Bolt.

The last series of the show reached an average of 3.4 million viewers and peaked with 4.9 million viewers when David Beckham appeared.

Saturday’s show is expected to draw a large audience as Bolt will be joined on Ross’ sofa by the likes of Olympians Jessica Ennis and Tom Daley and celebrities Kelly Brook, Colin Farrell and Rita Ora.

Jacob’s Creek has created a series of ident ads that will feature at the start and end of the programme and between the adverts.  

They will feature two female characters drinking the Australian wine while chatting on similar sofas to the ones Ross and his guests speak on.

Brand owner Pernod Ricard UK described them as “witty and entertaining”.

Patrick Venning, marketing director at PRUK, said: “The Jonathan Ross Show is a powerful and exciting association for Jacob’s Creek.

“Jonathan is a true character of television and the show is a natural fit with our brand philosophy.

“It gives us the opportunity to bring to life the brand personality in a credible and engaging way.”

Looking back to look forward

Wine is a liquid time capsule. Drinking older vintages not only recalls the weather conditions and winemaking styles of the past, it encourages us to reflect upon our own histories. Such reminiscence often inclines towards romanticised nostalgia. Especially after the second bottle. But looking back is a great way of learning about the future.
