Glenfiddich to celebrate 125th birthday

Market leading Scotch whisky Glenfiddich will celebrate its 125th anniversary this year by sponsoring the Director of the Year 2012 awards.

The awards will mark the culmination of a four-month partnership between Glenfiddich and the Institute of Directors (IoD) that will also include tasting sessions at IoD events.

The partners have devised a list of 125 business pioneers from the past, present and future, and judges will now choose the winners ahead of the October 5 awards ceremony.

Senior brand manager Annabelle Clarke said: “To mark our heritage in this very special year and demonstrate our commitment to business excellence, we are delighted to sponsor the IoD 2012 Director of the Year Awards.

English wine: a happy harvest for Christmas

All across England and Wales, vineyards are being harvested. Down winding country lanes come armies of welly-wearing conscripts wielding secateurs and buckets, ready to reap the rewards of our vines. Happily they come, their cheeks ruddy with pride. Half an hour later they’re crawling over muddy clods with lacerated hands, drenched in claggy juice and cold sweat, as if ploughing through an endurance race.
