Free glass promotion on BBFB spirits

Bacardi-Brown Forman Brands is running a free branded glass promotion on 500,000 bottles of its spirits brands in grocery accounts and convenience stores.

The promotion is designed to drive sales of brands including Bacardi, Bombay Sapphire, Jack Daniel’s, Oakheart and Southern Comfort during summer events such as the Diamond Jubilee and the Olympics.

Each brand will have its own glass design and consumers will be able to claim two glasses with every bottle purchased by visiting a campaign microsite, drinksmadeeasy.co.uk, after May 21.

The site features a selection of recipes and videos with a mixologist demonstrating drinks that can be made with the spirits.

There will be six-sheet posters close to major supermarkets and convenience stores including the Co-op.

The campaign is also backed by POS.

Off-trade sales director Andrew Jones said: “We hope to inspire consumers to celebrate this summer with easy-to-create drink serves in designer branded glasses.”

Rosé tinted glasses

I was asked recently what I thought the biggest change had been in wine fashion in the past five years. My answer was unequivocal: sales of pink wines. From being a niche that expanded and contracted with the sunshine, rosé has subtly but steadily become a stalwart of many merchants’ ranges, with Provence firmly at the top and asked for by name.
