Sainsbury's buyer Peek to leave

Sainsbury’s buyer David Peek is leaving to join Copestick Murray Wine Solutions as commercial director.

Copestick Murray director Robin Copestick told OLN his role would cover sales, brand creation and managing the agency’s supply base.

“Our company is expanding quickly in terms of new customers, new business and new suppliers and I felt I needed somebody to come in to help,” he said. “David’s role will be global and he will also help us with our American company, Cornerstone.”

Commenting on Peek’s departure, Phelps said: “Since joining Sainsbury’s almost two years ago David has made a significant contribution to the sparkling wine, Champagne, Italy and South African categories. We wish him the best of luck. Mark Juggins, an experienced buyer already at Sainsbury’s, will join the team in April.”

Rosé tinted glasses

I was asked recently what I thought the biggest change had been in wine fashion in the past five years. My answer was unequivocal: sales of pink wines. From being a niche that expanded and contracted with the sunshine, rosé has subtly but steadily become a stalwart of many merchants’ ranges, with Provence firmly at the top and asked for by name.
