Tesco boosts fine wine sales

14 March, 2012

Tesco has grown its fine wine sales by 50% after overhauling its range, the supermarket has reported.

The new-look fine wine range was launched last June, with stores focusing on wines priced £15-£30 and more than 300 wines online with a wider range of prices.

The wines, originally called The Collection, were renamed Fine Wine and include classic European appellations and some boutique New World wines.

Fine wine product development manager Laura Jewell MW said: “Over the past year the Tesco fine wine range has been given a complete facelift and, as our rising sales figures indicate, a growing number of our customers are prepared to pay a little bit more for a top quality bottle of wine.

“The selection will be refreshed every few months to encourage these customers to continue to trade up and experiment with new wines. This is an exciting step in the development of the Tesco wine range and we are proud of the success this initiative has generated to date.”
