Thierry's Williams to join M&S winemaking team

Jeneve Williams is to join Marks & Spencer as winemaker for Bordeaux, Loire, Italy, Chile, Hungary, Argentina, rosé and sparkling wine.

Williams will join M&S on March 12 from Thierry’s where she has been winemaker and quality manager for three years.  

She also has winemaking experience with Waverley TBS and Pernod Ricard Pacific, where she worked for the company's wineries in New Zealand and Mumm Napa in California. 

Andrew Bird, M&S head of trading for drinks and grocery, said: "Jeneve’s understanding of the international wine market and her proven technical ability will be of great value to the M&S wine team."

Rosé tinted glasses

I was asked recently what I thought the biggest change had been in wine fashion in the past five years. My answer was unequivocal: sales of pink wines. From being a niche that expanded and contracted with the sunshine, rosé has subtly but steadily become a stalwart of many merchants’ ranges, with Provence firmly at the top and asked for by name.
