80 added in Wine Rack range review

26 October, 2011

Wine Rack has unveiled a range review with 80-plus new wines at a press tasting in London today.

Retail operations and commercial manager Ron Booker said the review had been the biggest change in the chain's stores in the two years since it was founded with the purchase of a number of shops from the First Quench administration.

Booker said: “We had a lot of stock come with the original acquisition of stores from the administration but this has now sold through which meant we could do some new things. We sourced a lot of new wines at Vinexpo this year.”

Booker added that Wine Rack was trailing back-lit glass cabinets to merchandise spirits on the shop floor at its Weybridge, Surrey, store.

“It’s working well and something we’ll look to do elsewhere,” he said.

The chain is still to launch its transactional website, scheduled for earlier this year, but Booker said it was “not a million miles away”.
