Wray & Nephew UK adds Bulldog gin

The specialist rum distributor J Wray & Nephew UK has added the Bulldog gin brand to its portfolio.

Bulldog was launched in the UK in early 2009 by its creator and chief executive Anshuman Vohra.

It will join a Wray & Nephew brands portfolio that includes Appleton Estate and Wray & Nephew White Overproof rums, and the speciality spirits Alize, Dooley’s and Licor 43.

The gin is noted for its unusual botanicals including dragon eye from China and white poppy from Turkey.

Vohra said: “The partnership between Bulldog and J Wray & Nephew fits very well with our global expansion strategy and it will help ensure that the product takes its rightful place as an indispensable base for classic as well as innovative cocktails, and will enable it to become a mainstay in the premium gin scene.”

Diane Edwards, general manager of J Wray & Nephew UK, added: “We are excited to add a premium gin to our portfolio of premium brands.

“Bulldog’s vital character and formulation gives it a confident modern positioning, which we feel is eminently suited to the demands of the discerning British consumer.

“Having firmly established itself in London, we want to take Bulldog nationwide.”

Rosé tinted glasses

I was asked recently what I thought the biggest change had been in wine fashion in the past five years. My answer was unequivocal: sales of pink wines. From being a niche that expanded and contracted with the sunshine, rosé has subtly but steadily become a stalwart of many merchants’ ranges, with Provence firmly at the top and asked for by name.
