Limited edition beer from Innis & Gunn

16 May, 2011

Speciality beer producer Innis & Gunn has produced a limited edition Triple Matured Oak Aged beer, which will be available in selected Tesco stores from May 30.

The 7.2% abv beer will come in a gift box and retail for £2.50.

Managing director Dougal Sharp said: “After brewing, we matured the beer in oak for a lengthy time.

“Once we judged that the beer had absorbed the perfect degree of oak character, we poured the beer into a marrying tun, and let the maturation continue until the flavours had blended together and mellowed to our satisfaction.

“This beer has been aged for a total of 99 days to produce a seriously smooth beer with enormous depth of flavour.”

Looking back to look forward

Wine is a liquid time capsule. Drinking older vintages not only recalls the weather conditions and winemaking styles of the past, it encourages us to reflect upon our own histories. Such reminiscence often inclines towards romanticised nostalgia. Especially after the second bottle. But looking back is a great way of learning about the future.
