l Cockspur 12

- a blended aged Bajan crafted rum - has been launched in the UK after a year's trial in America. Brand manager Pauline Clarke said: "While Cockspur Five Star remains a firm favourite as a general mixing rum, Cockspur 12 is positioned as a refined sipping rum but is also great in uncomplicated cocktails such as the mule or old fashioned." It will retail for £21.99.

l Glenfarclas Distillery

has launched The Family Casks - a collection of the best single casks from the distillery's warehouses, bottled at cask strength and†at natural colour. The collection is made up of 43 different bottlings, with one for each year from 1952 to 1994. Prices vary from £80 for the 1994 to £1,145 for the 1952.

l Grand Marnier

has unveiled the fifth bottle in its annual limited edition series first launched in 2003. Edition Lounge has been inspired by the design materials used in classic lounge bars and features a leather seal, a metal label and a velvet-covered bottle. It is distributed in the UK by Cellar Trends.

l Mentzendorff

is rolling out a rare Cognac called Le Voyage

de Delamain. Presented in a limited edition Baccarat decanter, there are only 500 available worldwide and each one is expected to retail for around £4,000.

l Balblair Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky

was the sponsor of the Mackintosh after-show party at London Fashion Week, hosted by designer Erdem Moralioglu. Whisky cocktails were served to guests including Helena Christensen and Keira Knightley.

l Jura

has added an 18

single malts. It is described as having notes of marzipan and†spicy chocolate on the nose, with pine nuts and vanilla on the palate.

Hofmeister may need more than the bear essentials to succeed

So, George The Bear is back. Itís hard for some of us oldies to fathom, but there are those under, say, 40 who canít actually remember Hofmeister and feel the cultural jolt supplied by the return of both the bear and the beer whose marketing campaigns it used to front.
