South Africans increase presence with UK wine merchants

19 October, 2007

Nine South African winemakers and representatives have paid individual visits to wine merchants across the country following the Wines of South Africa Mega Tasting in London on Oct 8 and 9.

Winemakers such as Peter Finlayson, of Bouchard Finlayson, and Andries Berger from Paul Cluver were among those attending a number of events, including winemakers' dinners and staff tastings.

Among the independent merchants visited were Planet of the Grapes in London, Tanners in Shrewsbury and Gerrard Seel in Warrington.

The winemakers also attended the Scottish South African Winemakers Fair in Edinburgh on Oct 10 and the South African Winemakers Festival in Oxfordshire on Oct 12 as part of their trip, organised by Seckford Agencies.
