For 12 hours, the retailer was offering 20 packs of Heineken for just 10p, instead of £10, which led to hundreds of shoppers logging on to take advantage of the deal.
However, an Asda spokeswoman said a disclaimer on their website meant the supermarket would not be honouring the deal, which it removed at 12am on Thursday.
She said: “We have apologised to customers. It was human error which occurred despite our regular checks.
“The online team and our beer department have written letters apologising for the mistake to all customers who did purchase the beer.
“We’d just announced lots of price cuts earlier that day too so we felt very silly when this happened.”
