The one-litre Banrock Ecomate will roll out to selected Tesco stores from mid-November in a move to provide environmentally-conscious customers with a greener form of packaging.
Retailing for £6.49, the packs are recyclable and largely produced from renewable material. They are lighter and more energy efficient to produce and transport than traditional glass bottles.
Banrock Station Australia’s environmental manager, Tony Sharley, said: “The environment has always provided Banrock Station with its main point of difference so the launch of the Ecomate is a logical step forward. The Ecomate will sit alongside the rest of the Banrock range and gives consumers another option when a glass bottle is not necessary.”
Banrock Station has currently contributed over £2 million to more than 60 different environmental projects worldwide, according to a spokesman for the brand.
