What the OLN imbibers have been sampling this week

Maison Mau Merlot, Vin de Pays

de l'Aude 2006, France

Supplier: Freixenet

This medium-weight red has blackberry fruit on the nose, but

lacks any distinguishing character

on the palate. EE

Marqués de Monistrol Vintage

Cava Rosé Brut 2004, Spain

Supplier: United Wineries

Hints of apricot mingle with subtle red fruits on the nose of this elegant cava. It is well balanced with a light, peachy flavour and a refreshing, dry finish. EE

Palandri Vita Novus Cabernet Sauvignon 2004, Australia

Supplier: Palandri

Black cherry and spice on the nose are joined by hints of smoke. A full-bodied wine with lots of blackcurrant on the palate and noticeable tannins, but a smooth, lingering finish. EE
