WSTA makes new appointment

The Wine and Spirit Trade Association has appointed former GMTV political editor Gavin Partington its first head of communications.

The Wine and Spirit Trade Association has appointed former GMTV political editor, Gavin Partington its first head of communications.

Partington, who currently works in corporate communications, has been recruited to act as the WSTA's principal media spokesman at a time when the industry is facing increased political and media interest.

He will also be responsible for all aspects of the WSTA's communications strategy when he starts his new job on Feb 4.

Announcing the appointment, WSTA Chief Executive, Jeremy Beadles said: “Gavin brings a wealth of experience with him and his skills will be invaluable to the WSTA. I look forward to working with him.”

Partington began his career as a reporter at the Newcastle Evening Chronicle and moved up the ranks to become political editor for GMTV before moving into corporate communications.

He is currently a director with Parys Communications where he leads its media training business.
