The Australian-born winemaker has been recruited to oversee all aspects of wine production at the estate in Surrey and is expected to be key in boosting production, particularly of sparkling wine.
Denbies general manager, Christopher White, said: “There has been an unparalleled interest in English wine, particularly on an international level and we look forward to maximising the potential of Denbies wine.”
Denbies currently produces about 450,000 bottles of wine a year and offers 12 wines under four ranges.
Worontschak has spent more than 20 years working as a winemaker in vineyards across the world producing both premium and commmercial wines for a range of markets.
He said: “I have followed the expansion and international success that Denbies has achieved and looking forward to being a part of this exciting and developing company, particularly the growth of sparkling wines from this site.”
