Responsible drinking charity, the Drinkaware Trust has appointed a new chairman and its first lay trustees.

Derek Lewis, currently chairman of education and training services provider, Protocol Associates, joins as chairman to replace Debra Shipley.

The charity's first two lay trustees - those with no professional ties to the drinks industry - are financial and pr consultant Dominic Fry and dating website Match.com's managing director Jason Stockwood.

Drinkaware Trust chief executive Jean Collingwood said: “Derek brings a wealth of knowledge from across industry and his experience will be invaluable in leading the board through what will be an exciting period of new growth and strategic development.”

“Communications and web-based marketing services play a vital role in reaching, and engaging today’s consumers. We are therefore very pleased to be welcoming both Dominic and Jason to the board and value their unique skills, experience and perspectives”.
