Shopkeeper shot at close range in Bradford off-licence raid

The owner of a Bradford off-licence has decided to sell up after her brother was shot during a robbery at the store.

Nasir Hussain, 26, was shot

by a masked gunman in front of his four -year-old daughter, while serving at the store in the Bankfoot area of the city on

Feb 1.

Hussain's sister, Shazia Parveen, said the violent attack was the last straw, after†previous incidents of theft and threats of violence.

Hussain was detained in Bradford Royal Infirmary, fortunately with non

life -threatening injuries.

DI Ian Lawrence of Bradford Police said: "This is a particularly serious crime. The suspect has gone into the shop with a loaded gun and during the robbery the shopkeeper has been shot at close range. I would like to reassure people that this type of incident is rare."
