Holberry bids farewell to Coors after 20 years

08 February, 2008

John Holberry is leaving Coors Brewers after 20 years with the business and its forerunners to become the managing director for Magners cider in the GB market.

Holberry joined what was then Bass in 1987, joining the board in 2007, and eventually becoming managing director for the Coors sales operations in the UK in 2001.

Maurice Pratt, chief executive officer of Magners producer Cantrell & Cochrane, said: "His considerable experience in the drinks industry will spearhead the growth and further development of our Magners cider business in that market."

During his time at Coors, Holberry was one of the most vocal and controversial advocates of beer range rationalisation by major retailers and a fierce critic of cost-price selling.

Holberry will join Magners on March 18. Coors is yet to name a replacement.
