New creation has 'great potential'

08 February, 2007

Malcolm Cowen has

launched a branded ready-mixed Kir Royal, created by Dijon-based liqueur producer Lejay Lagoute.

The company says this is the first time a branded Kir Royal has been available on the UK market. Made from a blend of French sparkling wine and a "delicate maceration" of blackcurrants, it is available in a 75cl bottle with a retail price of £8.99. It contains no colouring agents or added water and has a 12 per cent abv.

Malcolm Cowen hopes the product will "bridge the sparkling wine and cocktail sectors" and the company will be looking to educate consumers on the heritage of the product and suggested drinking occasions .

Sales director David John said: "A ready-made Kir Royal has great potential for the UK market. It already has a strong recognition factor, but has yet to be created in a branded ready-mixed format."
