Godley leaves Tesco's BWS division

12 February, 2008

Tesco's Jason Godley has announced he is leaving his role as wine category manager.

Godley, who has worked in Tesco's beer, wine and spirits department for the past six years, will leave his current role at the end of the month for a position managing Tesco's global relationship with supplier Procter & Gamble.

Godley has been instrumental in making big changes to Tesco's wine range over the past 12 months, helping to earn his team a string of awards, including wine retailer of the year at the OLN Drinks Retailing Awards 2008.

BWS category director Dan Jago said: "Jason has made an enormous contribution, not just to Tesco’s wine business, but to the broader wine industry. He will be greatly missed in the BWS team on a professional and personal level”.

Andrew Carpenter, currently senior buying manager for beer at Tesco, will take over as wine category manager following Godley's departure. The new senior buying manager for beer will be Thomas Otieno-Skaper, who joins the BWS category from Tesco’s group sourcing team.

English wine: a happy harvest for Christmas
