Tesco wine guru moves to global company role

Tesco's Jason Godley is leaving his role as wine category manager for a new job with the company.

Godley, who has worked in Tesco's beer, wine and spirits department for the past six years, will leave his current role at the end of February

to manag e Tesco's global relationship with supplier Procter & Gamble.

Godley has been instrumental to large-scale changes to Tesco's wine range over the past 12 months, helping to earn his team a string of awards, including five of the 17 trophies at the OLN Drinks Retailing Awards 2008.

BWS category director Dan Jago said: "Jason has made an enormous contribution, not just to Tesco's wine business, but to the broader wine industry. He will be greatly missed in the BWS team on a professional and personal level."

Tesco's senior buying manager for beer, Andrew Carpenter, will take over as wine category manager following Godley's departure. The new senior buying manager for beer will be Thomas Otieno-Skaper, who joins the BWS category from Tesco's group sourcing team.
