Fuller's is racing into its second year of a three-year sponsorship of the London Marathon, which takes place on April 13 this year. A team of brewery staff, publicans and beer writers will run the marathon, and will be cheered along from three official cheering stations set up by Fuller's and BBC London.

Greene King's Abbot Ale is giving consumers the chance to win a trip to one of seven exotic and "perfect" locations in an on-pack promotion, including the Taj Mahal, the Pyramids of Giza and the Great Barrier Reef. The competition will run on promotional wraps and bottlenecks on 20,000 four-bottle packs and 10,000 four-can packs in Tesco, Sainsbury's, Waitrose, Morrisons and Asda.

The Beer Academy is celebrating having educated and entertained more than 7,000 students on its courses, which include one-day, half-day or three-day programmes, and can be simple courses or bespoke events for corporate entertainment or private parties. If you're longing to find out more about beer, brewing, malts and barleys, upcoming foundation courses will be run in Burton upon Trent on Feb 25 and April 24; in London on March 3 and April 7; and in Stockport on March 19. Greene King is running tongue-in-cheek press ads for Greene King IPA to†promote the brand's status as the official beer of England Rugby during the Six Nations championship. The brewer said the campaign, which ran during the Rugby World Cup last year, boosted the brand's sales by 8.4 per cent in 2007.
