Cains gets the flags out for culture

22 February, 2008

Cains has released a special edition bottle of its Finest lager, designed by Sir Peter Blake - the pop art pioneer who designed

The Beatles' Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album sleeve.

The design has been created to celebrate the start of Liverpool's year as Capital of Culture, of which Cains is the official beer sponsor.

The limited edition bottle will be available

in the UK this year (rrp £1.99), and can be ordered from

cains.co.uk.

Cains chief executive Sudarghara Dusanj said: "Sir Peter Blake is one of the country's best -loved artists and, through his work with

The Beatles, has built a strong affiliation with Liverpool, so we couldn't think of anyone better to create our limited edition Best of British bottle. The final design is

the perfect complement to our Best of British activity."

Blake said: "Cains brewery and its beers are woven into the history and culture of Liverpool. I'm excited about the dynamism that Cains has under its current owners and delighted to be involved in their celebrations during 2008."
