Whiteside joins Greggs board

29 February, 2008

Former Thresher Group chief executive Roger Whiteside has joined bakery retailer Greggs' board as non-executive director.

Greggs chairman Derek Netherton said: "I am delighted to welcome Roger Whiteside to the board, and am sure that we will benefit from his very extensive experience of the food and retail industries."

Whiteside was at the helm of Thresher until the company was bought by private equity group Vision Capital last September. Shortly afterwards, Whiteside left and Yvonne Rankin took his place.

Whiteside was one of the founders of online grocer Ocado and he also spent 20 years at Marks & Spencer.
