Top Tip

07 March, 2008

I thought your readers might be interested in hearing about the success we've had with our latest green scheme. Just before Christmas we starting selling wicker baskets as an alternative to plastic bags. Despite only being a fiver, not many customers were buying them, so we started putting three bottles of wine in the basket and matched the choice to a particular event, like fizz for New Year's Eve and rosé for Valentine's Day. It's a really simple idea, but we've generated a lot of sales from it and can increase or decrease the price of the basket depending on the quality of the stuff on promotion. Plus, it's

great to see customers re-using the baskets and doing their bit for the environment.
