21 March, 2008

The n ew managing director for Wine Cellar,

Steve Mahon, is preparing to meet staff and suppliers at the company's first conference for several years.

Mahon recently joined the Runcorn-based chain after stepping down as chief executive of online retail business Ebuyer. He replaces Carole Ormerod, who took over as interim boss following the departure of former managing director Paul Gaskell.

The conference will be used to outline the future strategy for the Booze Buster and Simply Drinks operator, which is thought to be considering a further shift towards grocery convenience.
