Producers release Wine Week POS

04 April, 2008

Retailers will be given the first glimpse of POS material for this year's English Wine Week at the Annual Tasting of English Wines later this month.

English Wine Producers will unveil the new material and show how retailers can support the promotional week at the tasting at Lord's Cricket Ground in London on April 23 - a date picked to coincide with St George's Day.

Julia Trustram-Eve of English Wine Producers said: "We have seen growing interest from the trade asking how they can support English Wine Week so we thought the tasting was a good time to launch the material for 2008."

More than 20 producers will attend , showing wines in style order. Regional vineyard representatives will also be on hand to answer questions .

Only wines that are approved under the Quality and Regional Wine Scheme - the English equivalent of the French AOC - or have won awards are allowed to be shown.

Trustram-Eve said: "It's a way to reassure people that the standards are high. The tasting is generally a good chance for the trade to meet some of the producers and catch up with those that already sell English wine."

An updated map showing all the UK's vineyards, including those not yet in production will also be released .

English Wine Week runs from May 24 to June 1.
