InterContinental Brands is rolling out its Cactus Jack's Schnapps in 1-litre bottles. The brand's Apple Sour and Kool Kola variants will be available in the new bottle size from this month with a price tag of £9.99.

The Jack Daniel's Distillery has appointed Jeff Arnett

its master distiller. Arnett, a native Tennessean, will become the seventh master distiller in the company's history, replacing Jimmy Bedford, who retired last month. Arnett began his career at the distillery seven years ago in quality control, where he oversaw Jack Daniel's Single Barrel.

Dance music act Groove Armada has signed a one-year

deal with Bacardi-Martini. As part of the recording contract, Bacardi will fund the production of an album and Groove Armada will play live at Bacardi-branded events around the world. The agreement also allows Bacardi to commission tracks for use in advertising and other promotional campaigns.

recently acquired Glenglassaugh for £5 million from the Edrington Group. "During my career I have had to oversee the closures of both Scapa and Glendronach distilleries, so the opportunity to breathe life back into a mothballed distillery of such iconic status was one I couldn't resist," Eunson said.

Mixologist Jamie MacDonald has been chosen as Appleton Estate's official brand ambassador in Scotland. MacDonalds' role will include hosting rum appreciation courses and developing new serves for Appleton Estate V/X, 12 Year Old Extra and the recently launched 8 Year Old Reserve.

English wine: a happy harvest for Christmas

All across England and Wales, vineyards are being harvested. Down winding country lanes come armies of welly-wearing conscripts wielding secateurs and buckets, ready to reap the rewards of our vines. Happily they come, their cheeks ruddy with pride. Half an hour later they’re crawling over muddy clods with lacerated hands, drenched in claggy juice and cold sweat, as if ploughing through an endurance race.
