Glengoyne Distillery has launched a limited-edition Father's Day (Sunday June 15) gift pack containing a bottle of Glengoyne 10 Year Old and a stainless steel cigar flask with collapsible cup. Available from May at UK distributor Harvey-Miller Wine & Spirits Agency, it will retail for £39.99.

Frost ravages Muscadet fruit

Muscadet producers are counting the cost of a spring frost which

destroyed up to 50% of the fruit for the 2008 vintage. The cold snap on April 6 was described as the most damaging for 17 years and in some areas killed 100% of buds. Growers are now hoping that secondary buds will develop and alleviate some of the effects of the bad weather.

Joint education effort

Claret showcase

Two wine merchants are showcasing clarets in London. Bibendum is holding its annual Bordeaux Tasting - featuring more than 140 wines from 72 ch ateaux - at Lord's Cricket Ground on April 23 from 4-8pm. Berry Bros & Rudd has created an unofficial claret classification for people who love first growths but can't afford them, called Inspirational Growths, of which it will show its 10 favourites at a tasting in St†James's Street, London, on May 15.

Glass giveaway

Inbev UK has launched a consumer glassware giveaway with Beck's Vier. The brewer will give out some 60,000 promotional glasses in 300 wholesalers and 3,000 independent retailers in England and Wales. Shoppers get a branded glass when they buy two six-packs of the German-brewed lager.

Mixed case from Greenwich

Greenwich's Meantime Brewing Company has launched a mixed case of its beers with a 20%-off promotion this month. The case will include 19 bottles of beers, including Meantime's 75cl heritage ales India Pale Ale and London Porter
