East Green, which goes on sale in Tesco stores on April 28, is brewed using an energy recovery system which dramatically cuts the number of carbon emissions created.
The barley used in creating the beer is sourced locally to reduce emissions used in transportation and all the steam created during the brewing process is recycled to then heat 90% of the product.
The remaining carbon, which equates to less than 1p per bottle, has been offset using Climate Care’s accredited scheme.
Andy Wood, Adnams’ managing director, said: “Adnams has always passionately believed in ‘doing things right’ and East Green is the latest example of our efforts to reduce our environmental impact in everything we do”.
Tesco BWS head Dan Jago said the initiative enabled customers to make informed decisions when choosing what to buy.
"We are doing all we can to reduce the environmental impact of our industry, and we will continue to work with innovative companies like Adnams to create environmentally conscious produce,” he added.
East Green is available in 50cl bottles and has a rrp £1.79.
