The Italian Trade Commission will run a series of seminars throughout the fair focusing on Sardinia, Tuscany, Lazio, Lombardy, Piedmont, Sicily and Abruzzo. This will take place at the east end of the hall next to the Italian pavilion.

For the first time at the fair, eight Bulgarian producers will join forces to present the new face of Bulgarian wine. With more than 40 wines to taste, the producers will be on hand to answer questions about winemaking technique and

their vision for the future. May 21, 10am-4pm, south gallery room 14.

Be the first to discover which wines come out on top at the official unveiling of the IWC medal winners, presented by retired footballer David Ginola. This year the competition's chairmen tasted wines from 38 countries. A selection of the winning wines will be available for tasting. May 20, 11am, stand K62.

IWC - the greener palate: hosted by

Wine faults workshops: led by American author George Taber, who is launching his book, To Cork or Not to Cork. Listen to the arguments for and against different types of stoppers. Scientist and winemaker Pascal Chatonnet will lead a workshop on the subject of post-bottling reduction and excessive levels of sulphides, including how to spot it, what are the causes and how closures perform. It’s all true. Wine writers loaf around in a state of partial inebriation and partial undress, bitching about having to taste free wine all day and using recondite words like malolactic, terroir and recondite.
