Three men have been charged with possession and intent to supply cocaine after a raid at Wendy’s Off-licence in Whitebirk, Blackburn.
Councillor John Slater, executive member for citizens and consumer rights at Blackburn with Darwen Council, confirmed to OLN that it had used emergency powers to prevent the shop from continuing to sell alcohol.
He said: “The Council was asked to carry out a summary review of the licence by the police and we take such requests very seriously.
“Summary reviews are requested where a premises has been involved with serious crime or serious disorder.
“A hearing must be held within 48 hours where interim measures are considered. These include immediate suspension of the premises licence and the removal of the designated premises supervisor.”
A full review of the shop’s licence will be carried out next month, he added.
