Revised wine fair figure still a record

16 May, 2008

Brintex has revised its final visitor figures for last month's London International Wine Fair and Distil, after discovering a glitch in its calculations.

The published figure of 15,969 included just over 1,000 wine exhibitors who crossed over to enter Distil.

The number of net attendees at both events over the three days now stands at 14,903

.

This corrected figure still represents a record attendance at the LIWF and a 9% increase on 2007, Brintex said.

Visitors from outside the UK represented 26% of the total number, with 3,865 attending - an increase of 11% on 2007.

Distil attracted 5,173 visitors

in its debut year.

Looking back to look forward

Wine is a liquid time capsule. Drinking older vintages not only recalls the weather conditions and winemaking styles of the past, it encourages us to reflect upon our own histories. Such reminiscence often inclines towards romanticised nostalgia. Especially after the second bottle. But looking back is a great way of learning about the future.
