Heidsieck shows market bubbling

27 June, 2008

Charles Heidsieck has added a non-vintage rosÚ Champagne to its range.

The new RosÚ Reserve fizz will be available exclusively as the Champagne of the Month for June at London's Ritz hotel, before going national.

The off-trade guide price is ú40 a bottle.

Janette Peat, brand manager at distributor Maxxium UK, said: "The

UK Champagne market is definitely on a high at the moment, with sales of premium Champagne up 8% over the past two years.

"We expect RosÚ Reserve to be a big hit this summer as consumer demand for rosÚ Champagne increases, having grown to take 8% of the market."

Looking back to look forward

Wine is a liquid time capsule. Drinking older vintages not only recalls the weather conditions and winemaking styles of the past, it encourages us to reflect upon our own histories. Such reminiscence often inclines towards romanticised nostalgia. Especially after the second bottle. But looking back is a great way of learning about the future.
