Soft drinks brand J2O

is sponsoring a series of comedy nights this month, linking the brand with the

stand-up extravaganza, Yanks Your Chain. This tour features international stars including Pablo Francisco, Jamie Kennedy, Jo Koy, Gabriel Iglesias and Australia's Jim Jeffries. It will visit the London Wireless Festival, London's Shepherds Bush Empire, Birmingham Komedia and the Manchester Lowry.

Powerade - the official sports drink of the Olympic Games and Team Great Britain - is offering consumers the chance to win thousands of sports-themed prizes. Throughout August a unique code

on 50cl bottles can be entered online at or via text. Every participant will be given an Olympic event to support, and if the GB team win a medal, the consumer will win the same level prize. Gold prizes are £200 vouchers for an online sports clothing retailer, silver prizes are £25 vouchers and bronze prizes include sports equipment. Outdoor, press and online ads will promote the activity.

Vimto has launched a

retailer-only promotion as part of its centenary celebrations. The Text & Win competition will be promoted in 35 selected cash and carry depots across north west and central England, giving retailers the chance to win one of 100 Nintendo Wii

consoles. The giveaway will run from this month until Sept



brand Ubuntu Cola is now available in PET bottles. The brand, which was launched last year in 33cl cans, is made using Fairtrade sugar from Malawi and a share of its profits go to sugar cane farmers and their communities in Africa. Channel manager Louise Whitaker said: "Having established a firm footing with our 33cl can, we are responding to a big demand for Ubuntu in PET. We believe this move will help drive our distribution where bottles outsell cans by a ratio of seven to one."

Nestlé Confectionery is getting rid of its kingsize KitKat Chunky Milk bar in a bid to tap into the trend for smaller portions for health-concious consumers. Replacing it

is a two-piece bar called Kit Kat Chunky Milk Duo . Also joining the range will be

KitKat Chunky Peanut Butter Duo. Both

have a recommended retail price of 58p and will be supported by a poster campaign in September.

Hofmeister may need more than the bear essentials to succeed

So, George The Bear is back. It’s hard for some of us oldies to fathom, but there are those under, say, 40 who can’t actually remember Hofmeister and feel the cultural jolt supplied by the return of both the bear and the beer whose marketing campaigns it used to front.
