Carlsberg gets special

The first effects of Scottish & Newcastle's sale are beginning to be felt as control of Baltika lager moves across to the Carlsberg stable. The Danish brewer, which swallowed up S&N in a joint venture with Heineken, has taken back control of the Russian brew and two other speciality beers . Mythos, said to be the top seller in its native Greece, and Grimbergen - a Belgian abbey beer brewed since 1128 - will now be distributed through Carlsberg UK.

Chilling move for Carling

Coors has teamed up with Asda to offer shoppers ice-cold Carling. T he

Carling Cold Beer Amnesty Truck is visiting 19 supermarkets around the country between now and September and will offer customers

the chance to swap their warm beers for cold ones. Coors portfolio activation director David Wigham said: "The first Asda Cold Beer Amnesty at the Goldbourne store was a

success, increasing Carling sales by

50% at that store."

Camra goes all girly

The Great British Beer Festival is set to shake off its manly, bearded, socks -and -sandals image this year with a series of walking tours targeted at women. The Girl's Guide to the GBBF will be led by beer expert Melissa Cole, who will talk women visitors through all the beer styles at the Camra-run show, which takes place on Aug 5-9 at Earls Court in London .
