What managers say:

08 August, 2008

reaction from Oddbins' managers

has been positive overall, but one concern raised was the lack of detailed information on the sale.

Most of the store managers contacted by OLN cautiously welcomed the

deal as a chance to

rejuvenate the business. One said: "It's an exciting opportunity. We're hoping to get a bit of the old Oddbins

way back, and to get rid of some of Castel's wines."

Another said: "Everyone's really excited, although we'll be sad to lose our French partners."

Many managers were told via an email which laid down the basic details of the deal. Some said they were disappointed not to have received more detailed information about changes to the company's strategy or portfolio. "I'm trying to get a meeting organised to find out more," one said.

A smaller percentage of managers had not been told of the sale when OLN went to press. One said: "I had no idea, it's news to me. I expect we'll be officially told soon. "
