New licensing training for Scots

BIIAB Scotland has created a new qualification for licensed premises workers north of the border, in response to new laws that mean

all staff must be trained in key areas of licensing law and social responsibility before they can sell alcohol. The new two-hour SCLPS course covers all 16 key areas

Krombacher and UK United

United Drinks has joined forces with Krombacher to distribute the bottled beer brand in the UK. Krombacher says the pilsner recipe, in accordance with the 1516 Purity Law, has been handed down "from generation to generation in the Schadeberg family". Price is right for InBev

In Bev UK has launched price-marked promotional packs on key brands including Stella Artois, Beck's and Tennent's

lager, to help independent retailers increase beer sales. The company said: "The initiative will attract more consumers to the beer fixture and boost impulse purchases through the offer of instant added-value for shoppers - a proven driver of sales in independent outlets."

Gordon gets brewing

Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay has called on Dougal Sharp, the owner and founder of Innis & Gunn, to help him create a one-off home-brew to be served to diners on TV show The F Word alongside Janet Street-Porter's organically reared veal. Brewed and bottled in Ramsay's London garden, the cameras followed every stage of the brewing process, with Ramsay choosing to use Britain's Maris Otter barley blended with English Goldings hops before ageing the beer for over a month in an American

white oak cask. Sharp said: "Brewing with Gordon was great fun.

He was genuinely excited about the whole brewing process."
