Tasting spotlight turns to Prosecco

08 August, 2008

More than 35 leading Italian producers will be showing off their finest Proseccos in a major UK trade and press tasting

next month.

The event - Vino in Villa - is being hailed as "the largest ever international tasting" of Prosecco by the body representing the DOC in the UK.

Director Giancarlo Vettorello said: "We are delighted to return to the UK where Prosecco DOC is an ambassador for Italian style

."

The tasting will include tutorials for in-store wine advisors and store managers, led by wine writer Charles Metcalfe.

A new addition

will be demonstrations and sampling of Venetian cocktails .

On show will be the

2007 Brut and Extra Dry Prosecco DOC wines, along with

Cartizze cru

wines from Conegliano-Valdobbiadene,

in north eastern Italy.

The tasting will take place at the Institute of Directors

on London's Pall Mall on Oct 13. To reserve a place on the Prosecco master class or tutored tasting, email erica@eviva.co.uk before Oct 1.

Welcoming the wine rookie

Itís all true. Wine writers loaf around in a state of partial inebriation and partial undress, bitching about having to taste free wine all day and using recondite words like malolactic, terroir and recondite.†
