French wine fair lures 40 exhibitors

28 August, 2008

Some 40 exhibitors will take part in this year's Autumn Exclusive French Wines Fair at the Queen Elizabeth Hall on London's South Bank on Oct 8.

The fair will feature

more than 400 French wines in the £6-plus price bracket.

Nielsen figures that show wines in this price bracket growing at 21% in the year to April, according to the event's organiser Sopexia.

Charles Collard, managing director of Sopexa UK, said: "France cannot be complacent.

"With all distributors looking to extend their ranges in this price segment, there is great competition for market share.

"The fair is designed to answer this demand and to help the British trade find the right French wines to complement their range."

Special features will include Hot Off the Vine, a showcase for wines not yet available in the UK market.

English wine: a happy harvest for Christmas
