Closing for a two-hour lunch break, less red tape, and employing Myleene Klass to play the piano in the shop.

Cycling, chess, reading, going to the cinema - I like to live on the wild side.

Practise my tennis.

Last year a guy walks in and has a look around and then asks: "Where are the rugby shirts? "Many years ago our

If you could choose one person to be prime minister, who would it be?

I wouldn't wish that job on anyone, but, for a laugh, how about Alan Partridge? He wouldn't be any better than Gordon Brown but at least he'd make us laugh on the six

o'clock news!

Tell us something about yourself that would surprise your friends?

The only thing I wear in bed is a wrist watch and a smile - too much information I fear.

How do you deal with irritating customers?

Very nicely thank you. Or if that fails I just tell them to buy something or sod off.

Most underrated is Clare Valley Riesling, overrated is sub-£6 Californian rosé - yuck.

What one thing would you change about the drinks industry?

Supermarket loss-leading alcohol - it's shameful and utterly cynical.

Hofmeister may need more than the bear essentials to succeed

So, George The Bear is back. It’s hard for some of us oldies to fathom, but there are those under, say, 40 who can’t actually remember Hofmeister and feel the cultural jolt supplied by the return of both the bear and the beer whose marketing campaigns it used to front.
