Johnnie Walker Blue Label King George V Edition will be launched in Selfridges, Harrods and top-end on-trade accounts, reflecting its rrp of £420 a bottle.
The whisky is made using the original techniques practiced in the
thirties and only whiskies from distilleries operating during the reign of King George V.
Brand ambassador Jonathan Driver said: "Johnnie Walker has access to an unrivalled collection of fine whiskies that date back to the early 20th
century. This stock of whiskies has been carefully maintained for generations and is the diamond mine of the industry.
"Some of the rarest whiskies - many from distilleries that no longer exist - have gone into the creation of this extraordinary blend."
These include the defunct Islay distillery Port Ellen. Driver added: "Port Ellen provides smokiness and peatiness that is more profound than any other Islay whisky. The result is a very individual flavour."
The whisky comes in an exclusive decanter in silk-lined box with a numbered certificate of authenticity.
