Two new wine buyers for Co-op

Two new buyers have joined the Co-op wine team.

Ben Cahill joins from Lords Wines, a wine gift specialist and on-trade wholesaler, as category wine buyer. He is responsible for Alsace, Burgundy, Rhône, southern France, Spain, and Central and South America.

Edward Robinson, who takes responsibility for German wines, has an accountancy background but has also worked for Majestic, including time at French subsidiary, Wine & Beer World.

Former buyer Barney Davis has left to pursue other opportunities.

English wine: a happy harvest for Christmas

All across England and Wales, vineyards are being harvested. Down winding country lanes come armies of welly-wearing conscripts wielding secateurs and buckets, ready to reap the rewards of our vines. Happily they come, their cheeks ruddy with pride. Half an hour later they’re crawling over muddy clods with lacerated hands, drenched in claggy juice and cold sweat, as if ploughing through an endurance race.
