Co-op welcomes new buyers

Two new buyers have joined the Co-op wine team. Ben Cahill joins from Lords Wines as category wine buyer, responsible for Alsace, Burgundy, Rhône, southern France, Spain, and Central and South America. Edward Robinson comes from an accountancy background and will cover German wines. Former buyer Barney Davis has left to pursue other opportunities.

New appointment for Fennell

Andy Fennell, Diageo's European marketing and innovation director, has been appointed global chief marketing officer. Fennell's record at Diageo includes work as global brand director for Smirnoff and heading Guinness campaigns in Europe.

Johns takes on New World

Tim Johns has joined Genesis Wines as marketing executive, from Wines of Argentina. H is role will be to develop the London

wine merchant's fine wine business and promote its New World offering.

Fine wine director James Price said he would be "a formidable asset".

Hofmeister may need more than the bear essentials to succeed

So, George The Bear is back. It’s hard for some of us oldies to fathom, but there are those under, say, 40 who can’t actually remember Hofmeister and feel the cultural jolt supplied by the return of both the bear and the beer whose marketing campaigns it used to front.
