Everards Brewery scooped the overall champion title at the Society of Independent Brewers' 2008 Brewing Business Awards this week.

The Leicestershire-based brewer

also won

Best Innovation and Best Use of Electronic Media for its Mission Enjoyable customer service campaign.

Off Licence News sponsored the Best Support for an Off-trade Customer award, which was given to the East Anglian Brewers co-operative for its work with the Real Ale Shop at Branthill Farm, Norfolk.

The Real Ale Shop's Teddy Maufe, who grows the barley for a range of beers from local microbreweries sold in his shop, told OLN: "We are really, really chuffed. It's like David and Goliath - we are championing the tiny players and that's been recognised."

The award was collected at the Ins titute of Directors in London by Mark Riches of Norfolk-based Beeston Brewery, one of the co-operative's 40 members.

Staffordshire's Freedom Brewery cele-brated a double win for Best Packaging Initiative and Best Point of Sale.
